Country Lover's Dream!

Wow I just realized how long it has been since I last wrote. Time flies by when your husband is actually HOME! Drew got home around 4 pm on Wednesday (I foolishly trusted his sergeants when they quoted a dismissal time of 10 am. Never again!) and we celebrated by going out to eat. He, with the help of my strong hints, chose Olive Garden for dinner and we had a wonderful time. In the middle of dinner, though, we suddenly realized we were missing our finance class. Its the first time we have just completely forgotten about it, and it made the situation worse due to the fact we were out spending money. Whoops. Drew hadn't had a good meal in a week, though, and it was much needed. Besides, when that Black Tie Mousse Cake arrived at our table it was like God saying, "Yes, you both deserve this." Okay, MAYBE I'm pulling at strings there, but overall dinner was worth it and our budget will be back in full swing for this week.

On Thursday, Drew left for PT at 4 am, and got dismissed right after their morning session. He was back home at 9 am before I was even out of bed. He broke the news to me that they would have the weekend off! Finally! The first free weekend in a month!
In late December, we had bought tickets for a show at the Grand Ol' Opry and were planning a weekend trip to Nashville. Well, when we got to Nashville, we ended up finding an American Bulldog puppy for sale (now commonly known as Brody) and our plans changed. Drew called the Opry and asked if there was a way to keep the tickets on hold for a future show. To my disbelief, they did agree to hold the tickets and we could redeem them at any time. Or so I thought. Where the miscommunication occurred, I have no idea, but the truth was that the tickets would only be held until the end of January, and apparently Drew knew that.
So my thought on Thursday morning... What would we do with our free weekend? Well, redeem our Opry tickets and spend time in Nashville, of course! I checked the internet to see who would be playing, and low and behold... Carrie Underwood and Josh Turner! Some of my favorites! I was ecstatic, and couldn't believe my luck.
See a problem with this story?
When I finally told Drew my plan, he got this, "Oh man, I'm in trouble" look on his face. "Baby, the tickets were only good until the end of January... I thought you knew that... I thought you were just going to let them go... I didn't know you had been thinking about them this whole time..." blah blah blah. What?!?! Why would I just nonchalantly let GRAND OL' OPRY tickets go?! I'm a country music fanatic, I would hold onto those with my life. I was defeated, and upset. I took a shower, and when I got out I heard Drew on the phone with someone, so I hurriedly threw on some clothes and ran into the living room.
"Uh hi ma'am, my wife and I had bought tickets to a show in December, but never used them and put them on hold, and I was wondering if they are still available ... Oh they expired in January? ... Oh, well I'm in the military and have not had any available time to use them and this is my first available weekend, and we were unaware that the tickets would expire, and ... [I need to give my wife a special weekend, and this would mean so much to her, and she is terminally ill and it would be her last dying wish to go the wonderful and historic Grand Ol Opry, and you would just be a hero to us if you could pull some strings...] (okay, that was an edit but you get the point). In the end, the manager told Drew that she would call him back and let him know if we could use the tickets for Saturday night's show, which was already "Sold Out."
Sure enough, a half hour later she called back and said we could redeem the tickets for the last two side-by-side seats in the house. They were limited view mezzanine seats, but we were in.
Did I mention I have the best husband ever?

Friday night, we went out with two of Drew's friends to play pool (which I was awesome at!!) and for hookah. We went to Waffle House at 1 am, and have decided it is SO much better than Denny's, especially late at night. Oh, and I absolutely love grits. Who would have known?

We left for Nashville Saturday morning, Brody in tow, and took our time on the way. We stopped a few times, including Atlanta for Starbucks. Finally in Nashville, we explored Opryland Hotel and downtown. The show was at 9:30 at the Opry and was so good!! I loved it. Even Drew liked it, which surprised me (he's not exactly the classic country type). Ray Price also performed, and I have to admit, he is a dang good singer for being over 80 years old. After the show, we went to Dave & Buster's for dinner. I had never been before, but always heard people talking about it, so figured it would be a  good opportunity. It did not disappoint!

Well, now we are back home and yet again, I'm sitting here waiting for Drew. I'm looking forward to Dancing With the Stars season premier tonight. My mom just told me that Melissa from the Bachelor will be competing. She was a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader, so I think she will be really good. There is my fluff talk for the day. haha.

Hope everyone has a fabulous day!!
